When will my solar panels stop working?

Answer Is

Not for a long long time.

But all solar panels will lose a little efficiency over time.

About ½% every year.

So the panel you buy in 2021 will still produce at 90% capacity in 20 years.

Now every once in a while a panel will go bad. And need to be replaced.

It’s rare, but it happens, and most panels carry a 25 year warranty.

A more likely scenario is that an inverter will go bad.

Some inverters will need to be replaced at some point 10-15-20 years down the road... hard to say.

These days, most microinverters come with a 25 year warranty.

Bottom Line...solar systems last for a long long time. You'll need to replace your roof and your AC sooner than parts on your solar array.

But it's important to ask questions and...before you decide on a solar company, look at their warranties and guarantees.

Don’t sign a contract until you know what is covered.
